Armir Xhepaj is currently a fifth-year Architectural Engineering student at Penn State University.  He will graduate in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with a focus in structural systems. Armir is planning to pass his FE exam by the End of 2017.

Until this summer most of the Armir’s experience in structural design was from his school projects. This summer he got his first internship with KSE Engineering a wood design specialist firm. At KSE Armir learned a lot about wood design and some concrete and steel design.  Under the supervision of three Professional Engineers, he learned how to do roof layout, floor framing and header sizes. By the second week, he was able to structurally design an entire house from the roof to the foundation. He even got bonuses for being able to finish 6 houses in less than one week and a half. There he created strong bonds with the principals and everyone else in the group. During his internship at KSE he discovered that residential construction and wood design are by far his favorite to design. After his graduation, he hopes to continue working in residential and wood design field.

Outside of school Armir is very active. One of his favorite activities is going to the gym. Armir started 5 years ago and since then he never stopped going to the gym. Also, he is a big soccer fan. Another of his hobbies is traveling the world with his wife, this year they went to Cancun, Mexico.

Modifications and changes related to the original building designs and construction methodologies for this senior thesis project are solely the interpretation of Armir Xhepaj. Changes and discrepancies in no way imply that the original design contained errors or was flawed. Differing assumptions, code references, requirements, and methodologies have been incorporated into this thesis project; therefore, investigation results may vary from the original design
